Berioli-Johnson Duo Perform for GuitarSarasota’s Mini-Concert & Lecture Series

GuitarSarasota presents the Berioli-Johnson Duo on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 7:30pm at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2256 Bahia Vista Street, Sarasota, Florida 34239.

Concerts are organized by GuitarSarasota with gracious support from the Vera & Imre Hecht Foundation, Inc.

Concerts are free and open to the public, no reservations are necessary. Seating is open, and available on a “first come, first served basis”.

The host, Dr. Zachary Johnson of GuitarSarasota, introduces the artists, as well as engages the audience in an enlightening conversation with the musicians.

The Berioli-Johnson duo has performed throughout the southwest Florida area. Combining the guitar playing of Zachary Johnson with the lyrical power of soprano Deborah Berioli, their duo presents an eclectic repertoire, including traditional Spanish folk songs, English lute songs, and favorites of the guitar voice repertoire.

Dr. Zachary Johnson is a young classical guitarist whose talent has garnered national attention.  He has performed in venues across the United States for recitals, competitions, and festivals.  He has performed for the Portland Classic Guitar Series, Seven Hills Concert Series, GuitarSarasota, and as a selected performer for the Stetson International Guitar Festival. In 2014, he made his UK debut performing for the Oxford Classical Guitar Society.

Deborah Berioli is a critically acclaimed soprano for her portrayals of leading operatic roles including Amelia in Verdi’s A Masked Ball and the title roles of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Tosca.  Her career has led her to perform with major US regional opera houses and concert halls including Carnegie Hall, New York and internationally with Derby Cathedral in England and Jaffa Old City in Tel Aviv. In conjunction with her performance career, Deborah has been a devoted teacher and music director for high school musicals, churches and choirs.  After a decade of living and performing in Sarasota, FL she and her husband now reside in Golden, CO.  She is pleased to return to Sarasota to perform with her colleague.
