For first-time visitors, we have included information to help you enjoy your Guitar Sarasota experience to the fullest!
If you are looking to discover exciting artists, both established and emerging, and experience the beauty and intimacy of the classical guitar, you have come to the right place.
Experience the music of world renowned international artists in monthly concerts from January through April. The concerts are held at the Riverview Performing Arts Center, a few miles south of downtown Sarasota.
Revel in the talents of emerging regional artists in this free, six-concert series. Beginning in November, concerts are held monthly at the St. Paul Lutheran Church – a short distance south of downtown Sarasota.
All of our concerts are truly special events and guests are encouraged to dress the same. Business casual is the norm but feel free to come dressed to the nines!
Concerts start promptly at 7:30 pm. For our International Concert Series, if purchasing tickets at the door, it is best to arrive by 7. This will give you enough time to park, purchase your tickets, find your seat, look over the printed program, and relax before the music begins. These concerts are reserved seating only.
Our Emerging Artists Series concerts are free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 pm and seating is first-come, first-served.
We understand that sometimes the unexpected happens. In deference to our artists and the audience, late seating will take place during the first appropriate pause in the program though reserved seats are not guaranteed after the performance starts. Latecomers may be seated in the back of the hall until intermission.
International Concert Series events typically run an hour and a half including one intermission. The Vera & Imre Hecht Emerging Artist Series events are approximately 45 minutes in length including the performance and post concert discussion.
The enjoyment of the evening depends on everyone who attends. Cell phones are to be silenced before the concert and cameras and recording devices are prohibited. During the concert, guests should relax and enjoy and refrain from talking, unwrapping candy, or making noise that will distract the artists or fellow music lovers in the audience.
Though you will feel like applauding often, in classical music, audiences stay silent during short pauses between movements within a piece. Once that piece is complete, they applaud their appreciation. Your program and more experienced concert-goers around you will help you know when it's appropriate to show the artists some love.
Subscribers to all four concerts enjoy priority reserved seating, the best prices, and the first opportunity to renew seats for the next year’s concerts.
Advance tickets may be purchased online or by phone, or just prior to the evening’s performance at Riverview Performing Arts Center. The ticket office closes at 7:25 pm and after this time, cash tickets and $5 student rush tickets may be purchased. Seating is reserved only.
Guitar Sarasota does not provide ticket refunds or exchanges. Guests who are unable to attend often contact us to donate the ticket so a student may be able to attend. In the event of a cancellation for which there is no rescheduled date, a ticket refund may be issued at the discretion of the management, and may not include additional ticketing fees (i.e., ticketing operations fee, etc.). Thank your for your understanding and support.
