Would you like to build your confidence by performing in front of a supportive audience?

Do you enjoy playing with other guitarists (guitar orchestra, duos,  trios, etc)?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should check out the Guitar Sarasota Players Group!

About the Group

Learn & Perform

The Guitar Sarasota Players Group (GSPG) is an informal collection of classical guitar enthusiasts  who are interested in getting together and playing classical guitar.

  • The group meets monthly, November to April
  • There are typically 12-15 active participants
  • Skill levels range from casual near-beginners to high-level amateur/semi-pro.
  • Meetings are held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Bahia Vista Street in central Sarasota

Flexible & Fun

The format for our meetings is flexible, but goes something like this:

  • Each participant who feels ready to play gets to perform for a small and supportive audience.
  • Most years, we also put together a small guitar orchestra with 2-3 players assigned to a part. Each meeting, some of the time is spent by the guitar orchestra rehearsing the ensemble piece.
  • Typically, the guitar orchestra performs the piece in the Community Showcase concert – the final concert in Guitar Sarasota’s Emerging Artist Series held in April.

Connect & Socialize

As participants get to know each other, other small groups form, i.e. duets, trios, quartets, etc. People who do this mostly rehearse on their own schedules. When they are ready, they perform for the group.

We socialize, that is, we talk about all things guitar and whatever else is of interest.

Players improve their skills, learn technical tips from other players, gain confidence in their musical growth, and enjoy a supportive fun environment filled with beautiful music.
